DPLC specializes in post-conviction defense and mitigation investigation services and focuses on cases throughout the Midwest. DPLC also offers support and consultation to capital defense attorneys, tracks all Eighth Circuit death penalty cases and publishes a newsletter of updates on capital defense within the Eighth Circuit. In 2003, the Clinic won the exoneration of death row prison Joseph Amrine, who spent over 20 years on death row for a crime that he did not commit. Staff Attorneys, Joseph Luby and Jennifer Merrigan, are both recipients of Missouri Association‚ Criminal Defense Lawyer‚ prestigious Atticus Finch Award.
