One cannot probably imagine what hardship there will be without a meal source. It is therefore important to stock supply at home. Whether this is for consumption or preparation of calamity, one should ensure that food stored is of enough quantity. No one can predict what effects the disaster has after and if there will be meal sources anywhere.
Meals may no longer be available and if no preparations are made, one will starve. Therefore, nonprofit organizations are working for food emergency reserve in such a crisis.
In storing food it is helpful if one chooses non-perishable items or items that do not spoil easily. This is important so that nothing will be wasted and survival meal storage is not useless. Dried foods are advisable because it does not decompose easily. If one can stay away from wet goods then one must because this group is perishable.
Even if there may be preservatives available to keep it, for less hassle better choose a food group that does not need preservation chemicals. It would also be easier if one store supply that does not need cooking.
This is because there may be no electricity after the calamity especially if the damage is extensive. There may be fuel available but it is best to keep and use it for the light source.
Of course, if food is stored so must water be. At least a few gallons will do and this should be purified already so that there is no need for purification during an emergency. Water should at least be of good quantity because if the food source is scarce, water can still sustain the body. Water can keep hunger pangs away.
