Vienna was originally a Celtic city, formed around the year 500 BC. In the Middle Ages it was home to the Babenberg and Habsburg dynasties.

During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the Ottoman Turks unleashed arrest twice in Vienna, and in 1815 the city was the Vienna Congress site after the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo.

During World War II, a quarter of the buildings in this historic town were damaged or completely destroyed, and the population decreased dramatically. The reconstruction of the infrastructure of the city began after the war and since the eighties, the population of Vienna began to rise again.

The city is steeped in art and culture, and there are many opera houses, theaters and museums for visitors to enjoy, with a proud emphasis on the musical heritage of the city.

After all this is the birthplace of Schubert and Strauss, as well as being the educational center for most major composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and Brahms. The cultural center of the city is the Museumsquartier (MQ), an area of 60,000 square meters in the 7th district of Vienna, where most of the houses of culture are to find.
